What is a PAD program? Public Access Defibrillation (PAD) programs are developing in communities all over the country, emphasizing public education in cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED). The Nashville PAD Program encourages citizens to get involved and be ready to use CPR and an AED to save a life where they live, work and play. Chances of survival for anyone in our community are greater if citizens act when they see someone collapse. Action only results when AEDs are available for use and when people know how to use them. That also means leaders in the community must take action to purchase AEDs and move to train people to use them. The Nashville PAD Program is here to support that.
Our Local PAD Program: The Nashville Public Access Defibrillation (PAD) Program has at the heart of its mission saving lives in Nashville through the increased use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) and empowering people to use them through CPR/AED training. Our consortium of volunteers strongly believes that the public has the power to increase survival rates and the PAD Program provides the training and the tools to help accomplish that goal. The PAD Program relies on the generosity of community donors and volunteers to provide free or low-cost training and access to AEDs. Our growing list of partnering organizations include: The American Heart Association, the American Red Cross, the Nashville Fire Department, Metro Public Health Department, Saint Thomas Health Services, Summit Medical Center, Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital and Vanderbilt Medical Center.
